The Animal Welfare Association in Voorhees, NJ is seeking a hands-on, knowledgeable, and proactive Animal Care Manager to oversee the Kennel and Medical Care staffs. AWA operates a small low-kill shelter that strives to keep all animals mentally healthy through active enrichment activities; and staff strive for a very clean and happy shelter environment. Aside from becoming involved in implementing veterinary care protocols, overseeing the kennel care, and supporting the behavior staff, this position is key to achieving these standards through positive staff management, attention to pets’ welfare, and a lot of hard work.
As part of the management team, record keeping, generating protocols, limited budget oversight and computer literacy are expected. The ideal candidate will have worked in a veterinary practice or a similar shelter environment and must have supervised staff. This is a salaried, exempt position with benefits. Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter in East Hanover NJ is looking for a full time Animal Care Technician. This individual's primary role is to be the assistant for our full time Veterinary Technician. Responsibilities include, cleaning all the isolation areas on a daily basis, restraining animals for all exams and treatments, collecting samples for lab tests that may be needed (blood, urine, and feces), transporting animals to and from veterinary hospitals and the shelter, input medical statistics into software system, Petpoint. Prerequisites for this position are previous animal care experience and a valid driver’s license with proof of a clean driving record.
This position requires a hardworking, dedicated, and efficient team player. The starting pay is $9.00 an hour with medical/dental/vacation benefits included after 3 months of employment. The required hours are Sunday thru Thursday 8am-4pm. Please email or fax to 973-386-0773. |
